D@n Posted April 22, 2018 Share Posted April 22, 2018 Yes, an FPGA can run linux. There are several projects that have done this. One is the OpenRISC project, another solution was recently posted on this blog surrounding MicroBlaze. I know RISC-V can run linux, although I haven't heard of an FPGA solution that does it. Likewise, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a NiOS II processor setup that could do run Linux. Understand, though, FPGA's are sold by the amount of logic they possess.
