how to use nexys video onboard OLED display with microblaze

Question

Hi Forum Folks!

I just started using a nexys video board on which I want to display some text using its onboard OLED. After doing some research I realized there is no ip for it in vivado ip integrator nor libraries in sdk. I can see there is an example for it using programmable logic but I have to use microblaze. Can anyone point me on how to deal with this?

thanks in advance!

Hi @nattib,

The PmodOLED also works with the on_board OLED. Make sure that you have the board files installed correctly as shown in the Installing Vivado and Digilent Board Files tutorial. You must also have to have the vivado library added to the IP repository in the project settings. After you have opened the Block design click on the board tab right click on the onboard OLED under GPIO and select the oled. This will add the Pmod OLED IP core to be used with the on board OLED. Vivado will give warning attached below that can be ignored. Here is a working project using the pmod OLED IP core with the onboard OLED of the Nexys Video using Vivado 2016.4.

thank you,

Jon
