paulgrangeray
Hi, I use a HS2 cable with my Artix7 FPGA. Suddently, my HS2 cable became very hot (around the PCB), and now i can't program the FPGA anymore. HS2 is recognized with Vivado but FPGA part isn't recognize. Any idea? Something to do? JColvin
Hi @paulgrangeray, At the moment it's hard to say if the HS2 is broken or not, especially if it is still recognized by Vivado. Could you also confirm if you can see the cable in Adept? Otherwise, the next step would be to see if you can program other boards with the same HS2 cable and if you can program your Artix7 FPGA via a different cable in the same JTAG location. Can you see any visible damage on the HS2 or the FPGA? Additionally, is your Artix7 a Digilent made board or is it a custom / 3rd party made board? If it's a Digilent made board, you won't need the JTAG HS2 to program the board. Thanks, JColvin
paulgrangeray
HI @JColvin It's a home made board. I tried with a second board (identical but unsud) and it is the same problem. So i can say FPGA or other component are not broken. I can see HS2 in Adept, but no device found. HS2 PCB is very warm next to the USB socket, even if it isn't connected to the board (just USB connection).
Bianca
Hi @paulgrangeray, Can you indicate where is the PCB becoming hot? Was it hot enough to melt the protection coat? Thanks, Bianca
paulgrangeray
Hi @Bianca Protection coat is not melt. I can't put my finger more than 5 sec on the hot part. I attach a photo, hot part is circled.
JColvin
To those reading this thread, this was resolved on a separate channel with the defective part sent for further analysis.
