arty ARTY A7 Boad AD7091R

Hello Digilent,

 

I am just going to buy an ARTY A7 35T board and I have to interface an external ADC ADC7091R with it. I know it has an on board XADC but I need to do for some specific purpose. Now I have seen a Pmod of ADC7091 R given in its datasheet and I want to know that "DO ARTY A7 support pmod of ADC7091R".

Hi @Saeed,

Digilent does not have any Pmods that use an AD7091, so we do not have any existing example code for it. We do have an IP Core for the Pmod AD1 on our GitHub that uses an AD7476A which is also a 12-bit ADC with a SPI like interface so you would be able to look how that is implemented and change the code as necessary for the AD7091.

Out of curiosity, where did you see a mention of a Pmod AD7091?

Yes I have seen all other Pmods on digilent site. 

Actually I was going through the data sheer of AD7091R and under "Software and System Requirement" section I found this "AD7091R Pmod Xilinx FPGA Reference Design" and its AD6. So I tried to google it but didn't get any results. So I thought maybe I should ask you guys..

Hi @Saeed,

It looks like the Pmod AD6 was retired as a product a few years ago (before 2014) so unfortunately, we don't have any existing example code for it. It looks like the only existing code was created by Avnet (for the ZedBoard) or Analog Devices and is available here: https://wiki.analog.com/resources/fpga/xilinx/pmod/ad7091r.

Can you share the link of the reference where it says that AD7091R is obsolete already?

Hi @Saeed,

I talked with some of our engineers and learned that the Pmod AD6 was never produced and sold on the Digilent website. Consequently, we don't have a link to show evidence of this unfortunately.
