10V input voltage on a Pmod A/D module

labviewman

Question

The Pmod AD5 looks like a good A/D module for my application, but, is there any way to allow it to work with a 0-10V input if only using 1 channel?  If using 1 channel, would a simple voltage divider on the input (to step own the voltage) work (what would the max allowed signal source impedance for this to work?  Assume a sample rate of 100 Hz or 1 KHz)?  If not, any suggestions?

Hi @labviewman,

I do not see a reason that you wold not be able to use a voltage divider to bring the voltage down to the correct voltage swing you can find in the IC datasheet. If you look at the IC's datasheet here on page 32 is states that "input can tolerate significant source impedances and is tailored for direct connection to external resistive type sensors such as strain gages or resistance temperature detectors (RTDs)". It does not state a max.

cheers,

Jon
