USB problems booting NetFPGA-SUME card

ricardo

Question

Hi,

Today I was booting up a NetFPGA-SUME card, and I noticed that the USB connection was not detected anymore. The following appeared in syslog the first time I powered it on:

After this, every time I try to connect the card, I get the same "Device not responding to setup address" message:

I tried to connect it to a different computer, and then with another USB cable, but I get the same messages. The Done and Power LEDs are on when I turn on the board (haven't done any modifications to the card)
It looks like there is a problem with the USB port/FTDI converter. Do you have any ideas on how this can be fixed?

Thank you.

Hi @ricardo,

Based on the error you provided it could be two different issues that would cause this. The first issue would be the EEPROM, however we have never seen a corrupt or blank EEPROM cause the device to fail to respond to a set address command, so this is unlikely. The second more likely issue is the USB controller is damaged. I'm not sure what would have caused this but if that's the case then the only way to program the FPGA is via header J9 using a JTAG-HS module or a Xilinx platform USB cable.

thank you,

Jon

Hi @jpeyron,

Thank you for your reply.

It is unfortunate to have the USB controller damaged, as the card is brand new and it is still has its original FPGA configurations.
Wouldn't it be possible to have the card sent back for repairing, if it has a damaged component? I don't have any JTAG-HS module that I can use for programming the card now.

Best regards,
Ricardo Santos
