DPti IO Failed :0xA

Dcormier

Question

DS2  alert and loss communication. DPti IO Failed :0xA

Using the logic analyzer attached to a chip with max voltage of 5vdc

I connect the ground DS2 to the ground on the chip and a few of the inputs to the other pins that will be high 5 volts or Low 0 volts.

The chip is on an inverter. The  DS2 displays logic readings fine until I turn the inverter on and then I get the alert and the DS2 looses connection. I have to shutdown the inverter and  disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to get communication back.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I got it to work by grounding my laptop with my project ground. I am assuming when the inverter switched on it caused a  bounce in the GND which when the analyzer is connected to it, gets transferred up into the digilent and then towards the computer.  The digilent effectively browns out because the gnd rises but the 5v power doesn't.

NOt sure but grounding the project worked.

I still would like to know what the alert "DPti IO Failed :0xA " means.

Thansk

Hello,

Common grounding between instruments and circuits is important.
The device could be left without power (no potential between its 5V and gnd) or disconnect by the computers surge protection.
You probably got "Communication with the device failed" error and as detait the lower level transfer protocols (dpti) data transfer error ID.
