How to restore FT2232 EEPROM back to factory settings?

mixsemi

Question

Hi Everyone,

Just accidentally flashed the EEPROM attached to the FT2232 device on the Arty. The board is dead without the USB connection. Been using for 2 months without issues until today.

In Vivado it is showing:

 "ERROR: [Labtoolstcl 44-469] There is no current hw_target.".

when trying to Auto Connect with the target in Hardware Manager.

Within FT_Prog (FTDI's flash tool), the registers (e.g. serial number, vendor ID, D2XX/VCP driver ...) can all be read and modified. How can it be restored back to Digilent factory setting? Is there an FT_Prog template that we can use?

Thanks,

Robin

@JColvin

Hi.

Similarly to original poster vivado doesn't recognize my arty7-100t and with FT_Prog i can read serial number, vendor ID and other parameters. How do i make sure problem doesn't lie there and how do i reset it if needed?

Thanks.

Hi @Sundance_Chris,

To confirm from your other post, you are looking for instructions on reprogramming the JTAG SMT1?

Thanks,
JColvin

@JColvin That corect.

We have a "XMOD EEPROM" from Trenz that someone has reprogrammed with FlashPro 5 ID content.  Don't ask me why.

They pointed us to you sayng:

you can download a recovery tool there: (you need google login)

https://forum.digilentinc.com/topic/1816-digilent-smt1-recovery/

select SMT1 and reflash, this should recover the license back to XMOD

Thanks.

Chris.

Hi @JColvin

I have issues connecting the JTAG-SMT3-NC to my Xilinx FPGA and would like to reset the EEPROM to factory defaults (digilent board not being detected by Vivado 2020 on Windows 10 platform). The board where it is placed on also contains some other FTDI devices that were programmed using FT_PROG. Possibly, our operator wrongly overwritten the Digilent board's EEPROM. Device manager shows me the UART (how would it have to show the JTAG?).

Could you provide me the instructions to reprogram the EEPROM?

Kind regards,
Dave G.
