Arty Vivado License

JColvin

Question

A customer on our website asked the following question:

The reviews on the Digilent Arty web page imply that the Vivado license is only good for a year, and that it is node-locked. Are both of these true? Is the license node-locked to the computer it is installed on, or to the Arty board?

Thank you,

Hello,

The license for the Vivado Design Edition is only valid for one year, but this just means that you can get any of the new Design Editions that come out for a year. After that year, you can continue using whatever version of the Design Edition you currently have installed for as long as you want. Node-locked means that the license is locked to the computer (or device if you happen to put it on a flash drive) that it is installed on.

You can still use the WebPack edition for as long as you want to and update it whenever you wish though.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
