Analog Discovery Pro Probes

James Aguirre

Question

I was referred to this forum by the Digilent Sales Team.

My question is as follows:

I am planning to purchase an ADP3000 unit. I noticed that buying it with the probes is over $150.00 more for 4 probes when you can buy the individual probes for the Discovery 2 from you for much less. Please explain why.  Are the probes significantly different than standard probes?  I mean the unit only goes to 55 Mhz and probes for that are pretty standard as far as I know?

Hi @James Aguirre,

I confirmed with the Product Manager probes for the ADP3450/ADP3250 are higher spec'd than the ones for the Analog Discovery 2.

The ones for the Analog Discovery Pro boards are P2150 probes and can properly support the 55 MHz+ bandwidth supported by the Analog Discovery Pro hardware, whereas the probes with the Analog Discovery 2 are P6100 are not able to support the bandwidth.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
