Sample mode on Spectrum analyser

Fabio FZ

Question

Hi , whats is the definition of decimate  on sample mode of Spectrum analyser ? Why it change the noise floor increasing by 12dB ? I supose that decimate to reduce the samples and have faster acquire ? So if we need better noise floor and resolution the best would be to use average ?

Hi @Fabio FZ,

I have moved your question to a more appropriate section of the Forum where the engineer more familiar with the WaveForms software will be able to see and respond to your question.

I'm not certain on the noise floor portion, but I believe the Decimate option on the Spectrum Analyzer is used to avoid attenuating the signals (as mentioned in this forum thread,

Thanks,
