Error using the Jtag-USB

Hello,

I am using a Chip having Synopsys EM4 core, To debug this I am using the JTAG-USB (JTAG-USB Cable) to connect to the target.

I am continuously getting this message on IDE or Synopsys MDB

Debugger log
[JTAG] JTAG failed after 10 attempts; attempted operation was memory_read/1.
[JTAG]   (JTAG status register is 0x6 = :failed:ready.)
[JTAG] Memory read at 0x10000000 for 0x4 bytes failed (busy).
[JTAG]   Last JTAG status register = 0x6 = :failed:ready.
[JTAG] JTAG failed after 10 attempts; attempted operation was memory_read/1.
[JTAG]   (JTAG status register is 0x6 = :failed:ready.)

I have verified I am using the correct TCF file which is sent by chip manufacturer 

By debugger settings are below

-toggle=include_local_symbols=1 -profile -prop=dig_speed=10000000 -digilent

Hi @Deepak Joshi,

Digilent does not have a lot of advice regarding the Metaware debugger as we do not offer support for 3rd party software; there might be some more advice in this thread, https://forum.digilentinc.com/topic/15863-information-about-jtag-hs2-working-on-haps-80/, though you likely need to reach out to Synopsys support in order to get the JTAG USB working correctly.

One further question for connecting EM\EV62 processor core what is the most suitable JTAG 

1. JTAG-USB (https://store.digilentinc.com/jtag-usb-cable/)
2. HS2 Cable(https://store.digilentinc.com/jtag-hs2-programming-cable/)

Also just another point if possible can you please have a look into the link for Adept2 download (https://reference.digilentinc.com/reference/software/adept/start) one cannot download latest version for windows i.e 2.21.2 but have to go previous version and download (2.19.2)

Hi @Deepak Joshi,

I haven't used the EM or EV62 processor cores, so I wouldn't know which one is better, though I would guess that JTAG HS2 might be a better choice. I have nothing to base that guess off of though.

The link you mentioned is working now; there was some sort of invisible box over the top of that hyperlink so people couldn't actually click on it.
