Nexys A7-100T, Microblaze and DDR2

aadgl

Question

Hello,

I am trying to implement DDR2 with Microblaze on a Nexys A7 100T board.  I have found several resources, but none are clear examples:
   - has DDR2, but not in a Microblaze project
> nexys4ddr_mig_prj.zip
    - is a good start, but doesn't work in Vivado 2018.2
    - the files can be loaded, MIG doesn't enable the [Next] button
> https://reference.digilentinc.com/learn/programmable-logic/tutorials/nexys-4-ddr-sram-to-ddr-component/start?_ga=2.10507316.1851975201.1591529487-1868089371.1591529487
   - Documentation reports the components can be inserted as precompiled or source.
  -  I haven't found a a way to do either in Vivado 2018.2

I can get Microblaze with Hello World running.  A procedure for the A7-100T board and some version of Vivado would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi @aadgl,

I apologize for the delay. There are a couple of recently made tutorials that may be of help to you.

The first one is a revamped version of the "How to store your SDK project in SPI Flash" tutorial that was updated to 2019.1 and uses the Nexys A7 100T (the tutorial lists the Nexys 4 DDR, the Nexys A7 is the newer branding of the same board) and goes through the process of adding DDR and Microblaze to the design.

The other tutorial is for Vivado 2020.1. As a fair warning, this material is still being reviewed and refined, but does walk through adding DDR memory to Microblaze designs.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
