Hello.

I'm an embedded software engineer who works closely with hardware and FPGA groups at an aerospace and defense company.  I've been doing low-level platform work on and off since 1981, and try to keep up with the "latest"  technologies, but I often lag behind.

These days, I'm teaching myself VHDL and Verilog, and experimenting with soft core processors in FPGA fabric (also developing products utilizing them).

I'm certain that I'll be asking all sorts of newbie questions in the technical forums.  I'll also attempt to answer questions if I think I know enough about the subject at hand.

My name is Aaron and I am a High School teacher.  I am trying to teach problem solving as a major tenet of the different classes / areas I have.  Physical computing is a great way to develop solutions to real world problems.  I am fairly new at this but love to learn!

My name is Olafs. I'm data center specialist in my professional work, but retro computing enthusiast in my free time. I have job experience in programming, PCB design and electronics repair, but doing other stuff in my work time leaves more energy to doing my own small projects for my hobby. Hi @MLopes,

The Test and Measurement section, https://forum.digilentinc.com/forum/8-test-and-measurement/, is not retired; it is very much active and available.

It's subforum, https://forum.digilentinc.com/forum/30-openscope-mz-waveforms-live-and-openlogger-retired/, is retired though as the products relevant to that section of the Forum are no longer sold. 

I will see if I can make that subforum topic title less confusing or obtrusive.

Hi everyone. I've just purchased an Analog Discovery 2 after searching for USB based measurement devices for use in a Vintage Rapair scenario. In my case, I fell in love with electroncs at an early stage, went on to study it in High School, College and University, and then worked in the field briefly as VCR repair shops became  inviable and I moved to IT wth no complaints. Now able to return to electronics many years later simply because I love it, I find that the classic test equipment still looks cool, but is arguably obsolete or facing it in the near future. The AD2 provides outstanding value compared its peers and provides a massive reduction in upfront cost, space, and energy consumption which might be near 100:1 in each case. Release of the "Audio Analyzer Suite" software by a third party made the decision by the AD2 an easy one as it offers THD measurements suitable to many such as myself. I'm appreciative to the many YouTube content creators who discovered this years ago and I've been watching them in amazement and wondering why so few have discovered this product since it came out. Take Care all.

Hello, I am well and trust you are too. And glad to be here.

My motto is "I Code Therefore I Am"

Which I put on my resume in the days past as the inventor of the "resume quote" and which went over like a lead ballon.  So,  now being jobless, I am a retired microelectronics engineer graduated in 1988 from UNM with no job experience. ?  

My dream, hope and desire since high school was to own and operate an oscilloscope.  I wanted insight into how capacitors worked; not just knowing the mathematics but the physics also and need to see them in action.  So, all these years, I keep looking at catalogs of oscilloscopes wondering if the time was right to buy and use. I recently started searching Amazon and found the same response; not ready to buy. Then, Amazon sends me your produce description and I immediately get excited and bought it.

My DIGILENT Analog Discovery 2 will arrive on Saturday, 19 Feb.  It is the device of my dreams full functions beyond a simple 2 channel oscilloscope. With plenty of potential for creating projects of discovery.

So, if you have read this so far, great.  My name is Thomas and I will be using the Raspberry PI along with the Analog Discovery 2 and hope to find others who are already on this path so I can follow there lead doing projects of discovery as I am a slower trail blazer.

My user name is UNIVAC_Coder being old I was fortunate enough to program the first available commercial computer.  I have worked for retired rear admiral Grace Hopper while stationed at the Washington Naval Yard during my Navy days.

Hello all, and thank you for your welcome.

I am a systems designer, analyst, and all-around computer security guy who's managed so far to stay above the hardware line of engagement - my idea of "hardware" is assembler language and plugging boards and modules together. I finally got bit by the Raspberry bug, and having learned how to solder and breadboard, I find myself in need of hardware to tell me why my haphazardly thrown-together creations aren't working (right).

So I'm somewhat accomplished in general, but quite the novice in electronics. (I know my physics, but not my EE stuff, and I've soldered my first real circuit two weeks ago.) AD2 looked like an all-around useful introduction to the area, so I just got one (along with BNC probes). Now I'm swimming in new terminology and "why isn't this working" surprises and generally having a grand time. :-)

I plan to eventually post a summary of what confused me about setting up and learning AD2 - no point wasting my innocence. Meanwhile I'll ask some foolish questions, hoping you all won't roll your eyes too much...

Hello world!

I am 28 y.o. now. One driving factor: urge to get my hand down on the engine and poke at things, that got myself stall mid-fly at university, and get an admin job.

Never managed to do low-level anything up there, so I will try unemployment as I try hard to learn as much as I can.

Going back to year 1 of electronics would mean doing 6 month of Verilog/VHDL/... only after 30 months of EE, and that would tear me apart.

So once again, I'm picking the easy way: try to understand the hell out of how hardware work! :D

My name is Alejandro and my new NexysA7 will be a fresh relaunch in FPGA programming since a long pause after a development period between 2004 and 2010 in a Xilinx Spartan-3 Starter-Kit board UG130. I am really looking forward for many new challenging projects :=)
