MIPI CSI on Zybo Z7-20

nate

Question

I am considering purchasing a Zybo Z7-20 and have a technical questions. I see the Z7-20 has a 2-lane MIPI connector. I was under the impression that Z7000 devices did not have the necessary D-PHY to run a MIPI interface. Looking at the Z7-20 schematic, I don't see an external D-PHY on it. Is it expected the camera attached to the J2 MIPI connector will implement the D-PHY offboard? Or, is the D-PHY on the Z7-20 and I'm just missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @nate,

As per the Zybo-Z7 reference manual towards the bottom of this section, https://reference.digilentinc.com/reference/programmable-logic/zybo-z7/reference-manual#pcam_port, we followed the guidelines in described in Xilinx application note XAPP894 D-PHY in order to implement a compatible D-PHY receiver using the Zynq. You can see the reference implementation that is mentioned on our GitHub as part of our Vivado library which is used in our Zybo Z7-20 Pcam 5C demo.

Thanks,
JColvin
