Question

hey there

I am a beginner to zynq. I have bought a zybo board. I am using vivado version 2015.4. I followed the below link to add zybo board file to vivado: https://reference.digilentinc.com/reference/software/vivado/board-files?redirect=1

then I this tutorial:

https://reference.digilentinc.com/learn/programmable-logic/tutorials/zybo-getting-started-with-zynq/start?redirect=1

but it did not work. in this tutorial says:

9.3) The Hello World demo is a good starting point for this demo. Click Next, select Hello World and click Finish. This process will add two directories to the project explorer.

but when I select Hello world demo, I see the below attached image. it says that

This application requires a Uart IP in the hardware.

could you please tell me what I should do?

thanks in advance.

Hello @hamidkavianathar,

You say that you installed the vivado board files as shown in the tutorial.

I have some questions:

1. When you created a new project you selected the Zybo board from the Boards tab? ( Which board do you have? Did you select the correct board: Zybo, Zybo Z7-10 or Zybo Z7-20? )

2. When you added Zynq Processor System into your block design, did you "Run Block Automation" and make sure the "Apply Board Preset" box is checked?

3. When you double-click on Zynq do you see that UART1 or UART0 is checked ?

4. Did you export the hardware files with bitstream and make sure you selected ps7_cortexas9_0 when you created a new project in SDK?
