dblake
Hello, I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to flash the PROM on my board without using Xilinx Vivado. Right now, I have to: Install Vivado Lab Install Adept2 JTAG driver Install Digilent Plugin for Xilinx Tools Flash firmware I am using Linux (Ubuntu 16.04) and uses a .tcl script that points to a .msc and a .prm file. I use the following in the terminal to flash the PROM: ./vivado -nolog -nojournal -notrace -mode batch -source myfile.tcl Is there a way to directly flash the PROM without having to install Vivado? I cannot seem to find any documentation on how to do this and it seems like I should be able to using just the Digilent drivers. Thanks!
jpeyron
Hi @dblake, Welcome to the Digilent Forums! The ability to write to the QSPI Flash was available for some of Digilent's older FPGA's like the Nexys 3 in Adept's UI(Look under the Memory section the the Nexys 3 reference manual here.) This was not facilitated for the newer ZYNQ and 7 series Digilent FPGA's. best regards, Jon
dblake
Apologies. I don't have a Digilent FPGA board. I am using an Xilinx Artix 7. But it sounds like you are saying that this is not possible.
jpeyron
Hi @dblake, That is correct. We are not aware of an alternative to Vivado for configuring the Flash. One of the more experience community members might have some additional input for you. best regards, Jon
