Over Voltage on AD2

bach911

Question

I had a 100x leading to the AD2 channel one while using the AD2 scope. Somehow the probe created a short on the circuit being tested. The 100x probe is toast along with the AD2 inputs at both channels one and two. The rest of the AD2 and outputs are still working. Obviously an over voltage spike fried the AD2 inputs. Is there a component that can be replaced or am I looking at buying a new AD2?

Hi @bach911

Sorry to hear this.

I'm not sure what could have been damaged, the input switches (ADG612), the buffers (AD8066), the drivers (ADA4940), the ADC (AD9648)...
Here you can find the manual with schematic details:
https://reference.digilentinc.com/reference/instrumentation/analog-discovery-2/reference-manual#scope_input_divider_and_gain_selection

If you want to identify the damage level you could inject low signal amplitude to the inputs of the above items starting from the ADC (R10,13...)
