Any way to speed up lock/synchronization time in the dvi2rgb core?

Randall Aiken

Question

The dvi2rgb IP core seems to take anywhere from 5 seconds to 20 seconds to acquire synchronization and display incoming HDMI data.  The datasheet says the process could take up to 1 minute.  The pixel clock achieves lock quickly, it's just the data/syncs that takes some time to appear.

I hate to complain, because the core is provided free of charge with the Nexys Video card, and seems to work quite well otherwise, but Is there any way to speed up the acquisition time, or perhaps in a future update?

Hi Randall,

Currently we do not have the resources to better this process. The dvi2rgb IP core is open source so if we recieve a patch that addresses this we would definitely test and then integrate it into the IP core.

thank you,

Jon

If one has the time, give kUseFastAlgorithm a try. This is a generic parameter in the PhaseAlign module that is set to false for now. One could make this parameter accessible from the IP wizard and should result in faster lock times in some cases. It is an untested feature, however.
