Nexys Video Programming cable

hmai

Question

Hello,  looking for Nexys Video programming cable.  Nexys video board has a micro USB programming port (J12) as well as 6-pin JTAG (J17).  Would like to program using JTAG as well as Quad SPI.  Can both done via the micro USB (J12) port?  If so, what cable package should be bought from Digilent?

Thanks in advance for your response

Hi @hmai,

You can use the USB J12 port  labeled “PROG” to configure the FPGA any time the power is on. The Mode jumper JP4 allows you to select either JTAG, QSPI, USB or microSD.  The Nexys Video's reference manual here in section 2. FPGA Configuration describes what each mode is. Here is the Nexys Video's resource center which has tutorials that will help you to configure the Nexys Video using the JTAG and QSPI mode.  You do not need to purchase a JTAG programmer unless you are planning on configuring the Nexys Video through the 6-pin JTAG(J17).

thank you,

Jon
