ARTY A7 Device Drivers.

Subani Shaik

Question

We have purchased a ARTY A7 board, as well we are using VIVADO 2018.3 (IDE).

We downloaded the board supported files from below link as under    " (3.1) Installing Digilent Board Files".

https://reference.digilentinc.com/vivado/installing-vivado/start

In the downloaded files  we get .prj file and XML format files , while using vivado 2018.3 tool, it accepts only .xpr,  .ppr,  .xise formats.

Please suggest me how to use board supported files in vivado 2018.3.

Hi @Subani Shaik,

Make sure to install the board files as described in the tutorial you linked.  Then go through the Getting Started with the Vivado IP Integrator tutorial.  Section 3.4 describes what the board files do.

The Board tab displays all of the external connections that Digilent has provided as part of the board file selected as part of creating the project. This tool makes connecting these ports to a design extremely straightforward.

Under section 4 it show you how to use the board tab in the block design.

Here is a forum thread that describes why we use the prj files for the MIG. The board files also become the default configuration for the microblaze processor.

The board files handles constraining the pins for the parts used from the boards tab in the block design.

cheers,

Jon
