how to generate speech from zybo

Question

Hi,im using zybo for communication,is there any method to generate speech using hph out(output port) without taking anything from  line in of zybo,. can  we generate a sentence from  storing ascii of charcter in memory? or is there any other method to do so without giving input from mic? is it even possible through it?

@Hahmed,

You are really asking about two separate problems.  The first problem is to generate a speech waveform from text, and the second problem is to send this speech waveform to the audio output port of your Zybo.  Split these two up.  Once you do that, you'll realize that the first problem can be worked with on any computer--with or without an FPGA attached.  To that problem, I know there exists an open source text to speech translator that was or is used by the US national weather service.  It's not great, since you can tell it is a computer speaking, but it is a lot better than where the technology was at several decades ago.  Once you get something similar working on your desktop, then it would make sense to ask about the FPGA.
