ZedBoard Power Supply

lrodriguez

Question

Hi,

Sorry, I am new with FPGAs.

I need to buy a power supply for the ZedBoard.

https://store.digilentinc.com/60w-pcie-12v-5a-power-supply/

This item is correc? I think the input cable is a little different.

I have a pynq with this power supply

https://store.digilentinc.com/12v-3a-power-supply/

But I think is not the correct voltage.

Can I use the pynq power supply for the zedBoard? if not can you give me the link to buy the correct item in the digilent store please?

Thanks

Hi @lrodriguez,

The 12V is the correct voltage to use with the Zedboard. If you are buying a Zedboard kit (rather than just the Zedboard by itself), it comes with the appropriate 12V power supply. You may use the power supply that comes with your Pynq board to power the Zedboard, although it does not have as high of a Wattage rating as the power supply that comes with the Zedboard (36W rather than 60W).

The PCIe power supply will not work with the Zedboard; it is dedicated for the NetFPGA-1G-CML board.

Unfortunately, we do not have have the power supply specific to the Zedboard (12V 5A) available on our store. I'm not able to find the power supply on Zedboard.org or Avnet. I did find a compatible power supply on Amazon here though.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Thanks,
JColvin

Hi @JColvin

Thank you very much for the answer.

My problem is that I have a ZedBoard that I don't buy, but It don't have the power supply.

So, I have one last question.

If I use the pynq power supply (36W) it do not damage/harm  the ZedBoard?

(Sorry for my english)

Than you very much.

Best regards sincerely.
