jackn
Hi, i would generate the pwm signal on zedboard. I found two solutions: 1) https://store.digilentinc.com/pmod-ioxp-i-o-expansion-module/ where the signal is generated by pmod 2) https://store.digilentinc.com/pmod-tph2-12-pin-test-point-header/ where the signal is generated by my zedboard (software) and the output is directly on jtag pin. Can i use the second solution? is the pmod useful? What is the maximum frequency in both cases? Thank you
jpeyron
Hi @jackn, You can use either 1 or 2. The Pmod IOXP has a maximum pwm frequency of 500 kHz signal with a 50% duty cycle as shown on page 17 here. The Zedboard itself will be much fast than that but we did not test for that specific metric for the Zedboard. You can either generate a pwn signal in the ps using the zynq processor and the axi timer or in the pl using hdl. thank you, Jon
jackn
@jpeyron ok thank you. Can i have a link of example for second case?
jpeyron
Hi @jackn, We do not have an example. I did find a xilinx forum that discusses using pwm with the axi timer here. Thank you, Jon

where the signal is generated by pmod
2) https://store.digilentinc.com/pmod-tph2-12-pin-test-point-header/
where the signal is generated by my zedboard (software) and the output is directly on jtag pin.
