Hard coded Ethernet MACs on the Genesys2 FPGA

Hi everybody,

I am working with the Genesys(1) using the ethernet MAC on the Virtex-5. I think I'm correct saying that the Ethernet MACs are hardcoded on the FPGA? (Virtex-5). Now for my project I am thinking to buy the Genesys2 but I can't realy find if this Kintex FPGA also has these hardcoded Ethernet MACs? do they? or is there an other solution. Thanks infront.

Hi Bjorn,

I looked around on Xilinx's website and it does seem that the Kintex does not include the hardcoded Ethernet MACs, but I'll ask a more experienced engineer for their thoughts and get back to you here on the forum.

Hi Bjorn,

The Genesys 2 has the Ethernet MAC address on the back of the FPGA on a sticker just like the Genesys 1 does.
