zybo hardware revisions

Question

Some months ago I purchased a Zybo board.  I am aware that the initial release hardware revision was B.2, and the current release revision is B.3.  On the bottom of my board, under the serial number, is printed simply "REV B".  So is this a B.2 or a B.3?  How do I tell?

Hi jheinecke,

From my understanding the difference between the B.2 and B.3 in terms of revisions is due to a minor change that does not affect board performance. After talking with Digilent engineers, I found out that in this particular case, the board was released to the public as B.2, but the schematic for the ZYBO did not get updated with the minor change from the original, prerelease board, so when the schematic was updated to then accurately reflect the board (due to a "no load" resistor or a similar minor change), it technically went through a minor revision making it B.3

So to answer your question, I guess the answer is that the board is both B.2 and B.3 since they both represent the same board.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
