  2. Hi Digilent staff, and fellow forum members, Just wondering if you guys had considered making a USB HID -> PS/2 PMOD board? I was thinking of something like the circuit on the Nexys 3,4 boards which uses a PIC to convert a USB keyboard to PS/2 compatible signals. Would be handy for using newer USB keyboards/mice on PMOD socket equipped FPGA boards. PS/2 devices are becoming harder to find brand new. I (for one) would be interested in a few. I am interested in buying Spartan-7 FPGA Module: https://store.digilentinc.com/cmod-s7-breadboardable-spartan-7-fpga-module/ but first I would like to know if it suffers same USB cable issue as CMOD-A7: Since FTDI circuitries look similar on these two boards I just want to make sure the faulty design was not copied over from A7 onto S7.
  4. Hello While I was working on ZedBoard with USB-JTAG, the USB port suddenly broke apart. When I contact the USB port pins with the board pins, I can still do stuff, but I want this port to be fixed to the board. So I requested RMA to my seller but she told me that the warranty period is over and guided me to post a question in this forum. I bought the board on Oct 05, 2018. Any way to get this broken port fixed?

  6. Hello everyone , I'm realtively new in programming FPGA's and needed some help . My micro-usb port got shorted so i had to resort to programming my basys-3 with a usb drive . I followed the reference file from digilent on that and everything was working fine . I used it the same way for the next few months . I stopped using the board for a months after and when i tried programming it today again , the bit file did got programmed . INstead the busy led next to the port forever keeps blinking . I tried formatting with FAT32 , resetting , testing the demo file on QSPI but nothing works even after all that . Like i said i'm very new to fpga's and mosty just implement basic codes to learn so i'm clueless when it comes to the next step . Any help would be apppreciated . Thank you . Regards, Supriya
  7. Hi! We are working with a Basys-3 FPGA and were wondering if it is possible to read large data files from a USB stick. We are trying to let the Basys 3 produce music through a module, but the internal ROM/Flash storage of the Basys is too small for, for instance, .Wav files or .Wav converted to .coe files. Is there a possibility to use the USB stick support for programming for this application or perhaps another method? Thanks! Kind regards, Jonathan
  8. So my current project is very simple, but I've yet to settle on how the control logic is going to be implemented. I think the FSM and Microblaze are both perfectly viable solutions, but I want to find the intersection of maximum learning and minimum complexity. The controller will be performing three tasks: -Pass alternating I and Q data from another module via usb to the user. -Receive data from the user via usb to set a desired frequency. -Interface with the clocking manager to request the new frequency. I am sure I could create an FSM to accomplish this, the USB controller has already been done, my hesitation is a lack of understanding of the AXI4 and DRP interfaces. I am familiar with 8-bit RISC AVR microcontroller, and if given a similar structure, I would think designing with a microcontroller would be almost trivial, but there is surely a learning curve to climb. The question boils down in my mind to a balance between the complexity of the FSM and the learning curve of Microblaze. I also am inclined to say some introductory experience with Mircroblaze would likely be desirable for a future employer. What do you think would be a better opportunity for learning?

    JTAG-USB Question

    I am interfacing between a USB IC (a FT2232H FTDI chip) and a EEPROM IC (a 93AA56BT). To make the FTDI chip recognizable by Xilinx tools I need licensed Digilent Serial Numbers. How can I get a licensed serial number file to enable a USB-JTAG FTDI interface? Are these licenses keyed specifically to your chips? How can I enable a JTAG-USB FTDI interface?
  10. Hi, We are going to purchase JTAG-USB Cable to debug our own developed chip. 2 questions here: 1. I assume this JTAG-USB Cable is able to auto-sense my VDD voltage level as long as it is within the range 1.8V ~ 5.0V. Is this correct? 2. We need this JTAG-USB Cable to do some configuration in our chip. Do I use "Digilent Adept Suite" or "Digilent AVR Device Programmer" to generate my JTAG signals/waveforms ? And one request: 1. I need a datasheet of JTAG-USB Cable datasheet if possible. Please advice, thank you. Tifei
  11. Hello, I just opened my new basys3 board (novice EE student). As per the documentation I tried to power the board via usb-b (port j4) first through a laptop usb then through a 5v 2A charger making sure the jp2 jumper was set on usb and jp1 to the spi flash test program but the board did not turn on (not even the power good led). Trouble shooting that I performed: 1. Changed cable twice (didn't work) 2. Changed charger and usb ports (didn't work) 3. Powered board from external 5v power supply - the board worked perfectly. My question is could the smd soldering be defective, where can I mesure the voltage provided by the usb? Thank you for your help, If there is any more information I can provide please let me know
  12. Good day everyone! I need help on programming the Nexys 3 using a USB memory stick. Here is what I tried so far: 1. Save a single .bit file to a USB memory stick. I have tried my own .bit files as well as the Digilent's Built-In Self Test. I have also tried two USB flash drives. 2. Connect two jumpers on the mode switches. I have also tried none and mode 0 only. 3. I then attached the USB flash drive to the Nexys 3 and press the reset button. But unfortunately the bit file does not get programmed to the FPGA. The <busy> LED beside the USB port on the Nexys 3 is forever blinking at a slow rate. Does anyone tried configuring the Nexys 3 using a USB flash drive? Thank you.   13. Hello, my friends, i am new here and it is my first project. This project will be my BSC. I have to make next: 1. Make USB CAM interfacing on System Level using systemC... My diagrams are shown in the post. I need to capture the photo using a USB CAM. After that, the picture needs to be stored in some memory. After that the image processing logic (In my case, the logic needs to have the photo (stored in memory) as its input, the idea is just to decrease the photo size (pixels) and the output is the result (decreased size picture)), after that the result of processing needs to be stored in memory too. After that i have to choose... in easier way i will use some photo viewer to see the result, in more difficult way i will use HDMI in order to see my result on the HDMI enabled monitor. My plan is making it on System Level using coding, HLS,IP integrator, SDK for some software. 2.If SystemLevel work great i need to make it on RTL, IP level using pure HDL. I will use Vivado. I am not sure for now what i need to modify from SystemC to IP level (For now, i think just Image processing logic). 3.IP verification using QuestaSim. I have a question: 1. Has someone done something similar? Can you help me, like as give me some good literature or example (For now i am focusing on USB interfacing, i have been searching about this about few days, but without results..., I have read a book (SystemC "From Ground up")). 2.   14. Regarding: Zybot Project I am having an issue getting the USB WIFI Adapter to successfully connect to the internet. What is working: 1) Micro SD card Prepared for Boot on Zybo 2) Successfully able to boot and login to linaro 3) Connected a 4:1 USB hub to the USB port on Zybo and all ports are working - Tested this by connecting 1 mouse on all 4 ports, (one at a time) and the mouse works on all 4 ports 4) Camera is working fine, (motion is installed, server scripts copied to init.d and permissions changed) 5) Able to view Camera feed through IP Address but that address is issued through eth0 NOT wlan0 Hardware: 1) RA Link RT5370 USB Wi-Fi Adapter - linked for image - This adapter works flawlessly when I connect it to my PC. 2) Zybo, powered via 5V DC wall-wart power supply 3) Logitech C120 Webcam Note: Instead of connecting the zybo via HDMI, I have connected it to my router via Ethernet and am using SSH to send instructions In order to illustrate the problem: (lets look at the responses from terminal....) 1) When I type 'lsusb' (utility for displaying information about USB buses in the system) --> I get screenshot 1 - As you can see here, the WIFI adapter is detected fine 2) When I type 'ifconfig' --> I get screenshot 2 3) When I type 'lsmod' --> I get screenshot 3 - No kernel modules are installed 4) when I type 'sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces' --> I get screenshot 4 - which is detailing how I want the network interfaces to be set up 5) when I type 'sudo nano /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf' --> I get screenshot 5 - Which is detailing the credentials of my network (you can see my password, it doesn't bother me) ISSUE: I am able to stream from the camera successfully through the wired internet connection (screenshot 2 shows that I have a valid IP address) The problem is getting the USB Wi-Fi Adapter to show up in 'ifconfig' so that I can use it for streaming. Doing so will allow me to detach the Zybo from the router's Ethernet connection and use it cord free on a battery pack. Please tell me how to set up RT5370 USB Wi-Fi properly on Linaro (for Zybo) and also connect to any network of choice

Hi, I'm running Arch Linux (https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/xilinx/zedboard) on Zedboard and I'd like to use the OTG-USB as a host, but my Zedboard doesn't seem to detect the device plugged in (I've tried a USB flash drive). What are your suggestions? I've followed the instructions on http://zedboard.org/sites/default/files/documentations/GS-AES-Z7EV-7Z020-G-V7-1.pdf , but Zedboard just won't see the device.
  16. HI, for my new PYNQ-Z1 to connect over its "USB HOST" interface: (1) will any USB Hub do, e.g., when concurrently a USB WiFi dongle and a USB-Webcam are connected to the PYNQ-Z1? (2) what is your recommendation(s) of a "compatible" stereo camera module (cf. attachment) for the PYNQ-Z1 board ? Thanks.
  17. Hi FPGA gurus ! I am facing trouble while trying to attach my Atlys USB JTAG device to a Centos 6 virtualbox VM. I recently had no choice but to upgrade my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. As a Windows 10 version of ISE 14.7 was available, I decided I could do the upgrade before realizing that ISE 14.7 for Windows 10 was indeed ISE 14.7 for Linux running a VirtualBox... Nevermind. The problem is that it seems I can't attach Digilent USB JTAG to the VirtualBox. Here is my configuration : Windows 10 Pro VirtualBox 5.2.8 (I upgraded it so that I could install Extensions to enable USB 2 and USB 3 support) Adept2 is installed on Windows 10 and works fine, Atlys board is recognized and I can run the test application OK. Now, here is my problem : Let's turn on the computer first and do a fresh test ! Atlys Board is attached to USB ports (JTAG and UART) but is turned off. VirtualBox USB configuration is configured as shown in USB_parameters.jpg Now, let's turn VM on, Atlys board still off. The attachable USB device list in VB is shown in USB_devices_atlys_off.jpg As you can see, neither JTAG nor UART devices are listed, which is expected as Atlys board is off. Now, let's turn the Atlys board on and see if the listing has changed... It has ! as shown in USB_devices_atlys_on_1.jpg Also, you can see in Device_mgr.jpg that Windows has no driver problem with JTAG and UART devices. You may notice UART device is automatically attached. Looking at /dev/tty* shows that the UART device is now available through /dev/ttyACM0 as shown in TTY_devices.jpg Let's have a look at the JTAG device status (USB_devices_atlys_on_2.jpg), it reads "captured", whatever that means ... Now, let's try attaching it... It raises an error with message shown in Digilent_USB_JTAG_attachment_error.jpg "USB device is busy with a previous request" :/ This is sad ... Of course, no other device appears in /dev/tty* Greping dmesg for FTDI pattern returns Nothing. Only UART USB devices appears in dmesg log... I've tried the same test with USB 3 (xHCI) configuration selected. Do any of you have an idea on how I could attach the USB Digilent JTAG device to my Centos 6 VirtualBox machine ? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanx a lot. Cheers

I believe it had not been updated since 2015. Is there a later version available (this one, perhaps, or on github?) I am interested in the USB host with mouse, which I intend to implement on the Zybo/Zybo-Z7. Do you provide the sources for this project? Is there a project you can recommend, There is also the BIST for the Zybo-Z7, maybe it contains relevant references? thank you
  19. Hello, I have been using the WiFire board Rev D for data collection. A data stream is sent from the WiFire board to the windows computer over USB. Programming is via Microchip Blockset for Simulink: http://www.microchip.com/promo/mplab-device-blocks-for-simulink Downloadable code is auto-generated by Simulink (CTRL B to build) Program loading is via Pickit3, the .elf file is attached. This system was working fine, but suddenly the windows system can no longer see the com port. How can I fix this? Thanks, John ChipKit_WiFire_32MZ2048EFG100_Standalone_R2015b.elf One more note: the WiFire board should show up in Windows Device Manager as a com port, and it does not, see screen shot. If I plug in an Arduino, it shows up as COM4, the WiFire should look similar. John
  20. Hi all, I m a beginner in FPGA(zync 7000). I want to implement a project which took images from two cameras, one with usb(uvc) interface and one with csi-2 interface. One thing to note that i not using both cameras simultaneously. Only once at a time(Switch over whenever required) With first USB camera, i want to do some image proseesing functions like filtering and CLAHE(Contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization) on the captured image. Then the processed is images is displayed on a HDMI or RGB interface mini projector(DLP 2000). Here i indicated both HDMI and RGB interface because of i need to test the performance of both interfaces with HDMI input projector and RGB input interface TI DLP 2000 mini projector.   21. The attached image is probably the easiest way to ask this question .. We want to program 6 devices all at the same time using 6 copies of a USB-JTAG device (as opposed to having once large JTAG chain). It looks like Impact / Vivado does not natively support this (it sees multiple dongles but only deal with them one at a time). Can we script something to load a BIT file on all 6 simultaneously? We currently have the XUP USB-JTAG Programming Cable but would switch to another one if this one can't do it. Thanks!
  22. Is there anyone that has a direct link to download just the USB drivers for the Analog Discovery II (not part of Waveforms 2015)? We are having driver issues on Windows 10. We've tried every other solution that we could find on these forums. (Manually pointing to the drivers, rebooting, reinstalling waveforms including the Adept Runtime, etc.) We are looking for JUST the drivers that someone from tech support can send us while trying to fix this problem.
  23. I've got a problem with using my AD1 board, WaveForms is not detecting it anymore and it seems to be a usual problem with micro usb connector. I've checked continuity between connector pins on the pcb and the usb cable end and there is no connection between black/red wires and sides pins, only green/white seems to be connected to middle pins. Hence next I will try to replace micro usb connector but I couldn't find the same as used on the board. Can anyone have BOM/ part number for the connector?Or can I use any connector like molex (part number 47590-0001)? thanks Robert

  25. Hi All, I'm working on a project that requires me to read a file from a PC (mac, windows, or linux), or external thumb drive onto Xilinx Zybo Z7 board. The communication does not have to be over USB however it does have to be able to read a file either on a USB or a Computer as well as write to that same device. I've looked at several different forums and can't find anything that would make this seem doable. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your help. If you could provide an example of a small working project that would be immeasurably helpful.
