We have interfaced Sensor with VGA/QVGA resolution using PMoD ports which provides Monochrome 14-bit data and we are sending this data on Ethernet using UDP packets on PC.   2. Hi All, I'm working on a project that requires me to read a file from a PC (mac, windows, or linux), or external thumb drive onto Xilinx Zybo Z7 board. The communication does not have to be over USB however it does have to be able to read a file either on a USB or a Computer as well as write to that same device. I've looked at several different forums and can't find anything that would make this seem doable. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your help. If you could provide an example of a small working project that would be immeasurably helpful.

  4. I am interfacing between a USB IC (a FT2232H FTDI chip) and a EEPROM IC (a 93AA56BT). To make the FTDI chip recognizable by Xilinx tools I need licensed Digilent Serial Numbers. How can I get a licensed serial number file to enable a USB-JTAG FTDI interface? Are these licenses keyed specifically to your chips? How can I enable a JTAG-USB FTDI interface?
  5. Hi! Is there an example project for transferring data to the PC via USB 2 for the old Nexys 2 board? I was googling as well as looking on the documentation section of this website and I couldn't find anything. I need a bitrate of at least 4 megabits/second, so serial port emulation will be insufficient. I don't care about sending data to the board, just receiving. It would be great if it was specifically for the Nexys 2 but I understand that since it's old there might be nothing, so is there a tutorial/example project for a similar board I could use as a guide? I'm still fairly new to VHD

    USB audio on PYNQ-Z1

    Hi there, I am pretty new to using the pynq-z1 board. I wish to do some audio recording via a usb microphone! I am struggling with doing this successfully, is anyone able to help me with this? I am getting "no soundcards found" when issuing alsa commands arecord -l and aplay -l. I understand pynq -z1 receives audio samples as PWM or PDM, but im not sure exactly what that means in terms of linux drivers available. any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  7. Hi, I have a recently buyed a Zybo board and wanted to use it with Vivado 15.1 on Windows 10 I installed the cable drivers but the USB cable did not appear in the Windows device manager. Only the Jungo Windriver is there. It seems as would the FTDI chip be invisible for Windows. So, I assumed it is either defect or misconfigured. Therefore I tried to use the FTDI tools like FT_Prog to check the FTDI chip on the USB port. But still no luck. This tool doesn't work. It complains that FTD2XX.dll is missing.   8. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, just a student working on a school project. My zybo z7 board stopped showing up as /dev/ttyUSBx on my linux vm when connected using the UART microUSB port. On my windows host the com port does show up but I cannot open a connection with putty (115200 8n1), no error info or strange characters, just an error sound effect with no explanation. I tried everything on the pc side (driver reinstall, reboot, enable/disable port, different ports, different cables) but I suspect that it is the board not communicating.   9. Hello, I am currently working on refurbishing an existing programming bench using the Nexys Video™ FPGA Board Development Kit. Requirements for the test station require that I must use direct Tx/Rx RS232 data communication to the Artix-7 FPGA without the use of the FTDI FT232R USB-UART bridgeUART/Serial Converter Interface as described in the user manual.   11. Hi Digilent staff, and fellow forum members, Just wondering if you guys had considered making a USB HID -> PS/2 PMOD board? I was thinking of something like the circuit on the Nexys 3,4 boards which uses a PIC to convert a USB keyboard to PS/2 compatible signals. Would be handy for using newer USB keyboards/mice on PMOD socket equipped FPGA boards. PS/2 devices are becoming harder to find brand new. I (for one) would be interested in a few.   12. I am interested in buying Spartan-7 FPGA Module: but first I would like to know if it suffers same USB cable issue as CMOD-A7: Since FTDI circuitries look similar on these two boards I just want to make sure the faulty design was not copied over from A7 onto S7.
  13. Hello While I was working on ZedBoard with USB-JTAG, the USB port suddenly broke apart. When I contact the USB port pins with the board pins, I can still do stuff, but I want this port to be fixed to the board. So I requested RMA to my seller but she told me that the warranty period is over and guided me to post a question in this forum. I bought the board on Oct 05, 2018. Any way to get this broken port fixed?

  15. Hello everyone , I'm realtively new in programming FPGA's and needed some help . My micro-usb port got shorted so i had to resort to programming my basys-3 with a usb drive . I followed the reference file from digilent on that and everything was working fine . I used it the same way for the next few months . I stopped using the board for a months after and when i tried programming it today again , the bit file did got programmed . INstead the busy led next to the port forever keeps blinking .   16. Hi! We are working with a Basys-3 FPGA and were wondering if it is possible to read large data files from a USB stick. We are trying to let the Basys 3 produce music through a module, but the internal ROM/Flash storage of the Basys is too small for, for instance, .Wav files or .Wav converted to .coe files. I think the FSM and Microblaze are both perfectly viable solutions, but I want to find the intersection of maximum learning and minimum complexity.   18. Hi, We are going to purchase JTAG-USB Cable to debug our own developed chip. 2 questions here: 1. I assume this JTAG-USB Cable is able to auto-sense my VDD voltage level as long as it is within the range 1.8V ~ 5.0V. Is this correct? 2. We need this JTAG-USB Cable to do some configuration in our chip. Do I use "Digilent Adept Suite" or "Digilent AVR Device Programmer" to generate my JTAG signals/waveforms ? And one request: 1.   19. Hello, I just opened my new basys3 board (novice EE student). As per the documentation I tried to power the board via usb-b (port j4) first through a laptop usb then through a 5v 2A charger making sure the jp2 jumper was set on usb and jp1 to the spi flash test program but the board did not turn on (not even the power good led). Trouble shooting that I performed: 1. Changed cable twice (didn't work) 2. Changed charger and usb ports (didn't work) 3. Powered board from external 5v power supply - the board worked perfectly.   20. Good day everyone! I need help on programming the Nexys 3 using a USB memory stick. Here is what I tried so far: 1. Save a single .bit file to a USB memory stick. I have tried my own .bit files as well as the Digilent's Built-In Self Test. I have also tried two USB flash drives. 2. Connect two jumpers on the mode switches. I have also tried none and mode 0 only. 3. I then attached the USB flash drive to the Nexys 3 and press the reset button. But unfortunately the bit file does not get programmed to the FPGA.   25. Hi FPGA gurus ! I am facing trouble while trying to attach my Atlys USB JTAG device to a Centos 6 virtualbox VM. I recently had no choice but to upgrade my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. As a Windows 10 version of ISE 14.7 was available, I decided I could do the upgrade before realizing that ISE 14.7 for Windows 10 was indeed ISE 14.7 for Linux running a VirtualBox... Nevermind.
