  1. Hello, I got an old but good Digilent' Spartan-3 starter board, with the Hs1 JTAG calbe - all bought from Digilent at some stage. I've installed latest ISE from Xilinx - ISE 14.7, Linux version. I also downloaded & installed latest Digilent cable drivers or plug-ins for the ISE to find JTAG and connect to the board. I see that it appears to get loaded correctly, and I get a trace in the log Digilent driver version xx.xxx loaded. But, it's always says , no JTAG found ! I've spent hours, hours & hours trying to see why not, reinstalling drivers, examining udev hotplug rules, etc etc .. The device is recognized by the Linux kernel as a USB dev, and sees it as the FTDI chip, and then triggers the ftdi_sio driver. Which is then looks like to trigger some digilent special app, which is called, but it's silent, no output, I have no idea if it succeeds. But there are two /dev/ttyUSBx devs that get created - is there any other chip that's suppose to be recognized there ?? I don't see anything but USB to Serial on this cable. Another weird thing is, if I start & run the command line tool XMD from ISE (don't ask, I accidentally found it.. I 'm new to this), and , in it's shell, I ran this: connect mb mdm Then it prints a list of available devices which are actually on that board, device id and IDe code, and Part name - and the part names match what should be on that board... So this tool somehow finds something connected on the cable, yet, that Digilent plug-in for the ISE always says no JTAG. Digilent: please help ?

    HS1 JTAG Circuit

I want to know about the circuit diagram of HS1. Can anyone help me out with it? I searched on Digilent website too but it is currently unavailable there.
  3. Hello, I'm planning on buying the product "Cmod C2: Breadboardable CoolRunner-II CPLD Module" to make some prototypes of future designs. I saw that, in order to program its CPLD (XC2C64A), I need to buy a USB to JTAG cable. Is the Diligent's JTAG-HS1 programming cable compatible with that CPLD and board?. I will be using the last version of ISE on Windows 10, will it be a problem?. If it helps answering, this are the links of the Digilent's store of those products: Breadboardable CoolRunner-II: https://store.digilentinc.com/cmod-c2-breadboardable-coolrunner-ii-cpld-module/ JTAG-HS1 programming cable: https://store.digilentinc.com/jtag-hs1-programming-cable-limited-time/
  4. Hi, I can no longer connect to my fpga board with my HS1, I get the following message in Vivado: INFO: [Labtoolstcl 44-466] Opening hw_target localhost:3121/xilinx_tcf/Digilent/210205942108A ERROR: [Labtools 27-2269] No devices detected on target localhost:3121/xilinx_tcf/Digilent/210205942108A. Check cable connectivity and that the target board is powered up then use the disconnect_hw_server and connect_hw_server to re-register this hardware target. ERROR: [Common 17-39] 'open_hw_target' failed due to earlier errors. The exakt same configuration worked before. The only thing i can think of is that I'm developing code for FTDI FT600, and that might somehow have affected or corrupted the HS1. Any Help most welcome! Thanks, Mike
  5. Hi. cant program xcf04s with jtag-hs1 rev.a, adept says: ===== Digilent Adept ===== Adept System Rev 2.7 Adept Runtime Rev 2.16 Adept Application Rev 2.4.2 Copyright © 2010 Loading board information... Warning: Could not find specific board information Initializing Scan Chain... Default information loaded. Found device ID: d5c66093 Initialization Complete. Device 1: UNKNOWN cpld unknown. but the same cable works alright with xcf02s. also jtag-usb works ok with this xcf04s
  6. I am trying to use the Digilent HS1 JTAG programmer to program a CoolRunner XCR3256 with an existing .JED file without success. Should this be possible? When trying with the Digilent Adept software (Runtime 2.16.1 and App 2.7.1), the software sees the CoolRunner and returns a device number. But I only have Config and Settings tabs. When browsing for my JED file, only SVF files are offered. If I select my JED anyway, the Program button never becomes active. The HS1 manual indicated it should also work with the Xilinx IMPACT programmer. But when trying to use IMPACT version 7.4 with the HS1, it doesn't even recognize the HS1. What versions DO work with the HS1? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, WT

    HS1 Device Names

Hi, This one may need Digilent input: I named my HS1 devices using the Adept suite, but I was unaware that the names seem to be "per windows user". So when I ran my automated tests, under a different account, things failed. Is there a way to "globally name" my HS1 devices. I have two on each box in my test farm. There are 7 boxes in the farm. Thank you, Duncan
  8. Hi, I'm wondering what the best approach would be to get my python code to talk to an HS1 device? My questions are: 1) What DLLs do I need to have on my target machine? 2) Should I create a PYD or can I speak to the library functions in a different way? 3) What is the latest version of the SDK ( Adpet?? ) and how are folks using it? Thanks for any pointers, Duncan
  9. I got this question from a customer: I'd really like to buy a compact USB JTAG programming cable for configuring Xilinx XC95xx CPLDs, but I don't know which one. In the docs for the HS3 cable it is explicitely stated that programming XC95 is not possible. For HS1 or HS2 there are no lists of target devices. Can HS1 or HS2 be used to programm XC95xx XPLDs? Can anyone help with this?
