I am trying to boot embedded linux on Zynq Zybo with reference to this document: http://80.93.56.75/pdf/0/7/6/4/8/07648722.pdf I have created boot.bin(containing FSBL.elf, my custom hardware bit file and u-boot.elf) devicetree.dtb, uimage and uramdisk.img.gz in ZYBO_BOOT in sdcard as given. When I tried to boot Zybo inserting SD card in the board, nothing shows in the hyperterminal. Instead of my custom hardware, I have created a boot.bin file from the ZYBO Base System Design (available on the ZYBO product page of the Digilent website). Now it responded but showed the following error in the hyperterminal: MAC Addr: D8 80 39 5C F9 FC No valid device tree binary found - please append one to U-Boot binary, use u-boot-dtb.bin or define CONFIG_OF_EMBED. For sandbox, use -d initcall sequence 04062bf8 failed at call 04046944 (err=-1) ERROR ### Please RESET the board I think the error is from the u-boot-digilent/lib/fdtdec.c when CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is not defined. But the reason for not defining it is not known! What would be the reason?
  2. Hello, I am using Zed board 7000. I want to do Image Processing or basic computation in Zed board on PL side using FPGA. I was a bit confused to start either with a Linux image(PetaLinux or Xillinux) or directly through the Vivado software. Is it possible to do any computation or Image Processing on the PL side using ARM processor only to interface the peripherals(I don't want the computation to be done on the ARM processor). Kindly provide any reference link or tutorial which can address my queries. Thanks in advance. ---Nikith--
  3. Dear All, Me and a colleague of mine are facing an SPI timeout issue on a Zynq. We already posted the issue in the Xilinx forum: https://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Embedded-Linux/SPI-transfer-timeout/td-p/833550 but we did not receive any answer, yet. So I would like to ask your help. I am trying to use a TFT LCD screen with the Digilent Artyz7, exploiting the frame buffer. I created a project on Vivado that exports the Zynq PS SPI interface through EMIO. I have already deployed the linux-digilent kernel (v4.4.0) on the Zynq and I am able to see the SPI peripheral under /sys/class/spi_master/spi2.0 (the device tree has been generated using SDK). Thus, as soon as I try to insert the kernel module for the frame buffer support, I get the following error: spi2.0: SPI transfer timed out I attach the images from the logic analyzer: The kernel module of the frame buffer sends the data correctly through the SPI interface before going to timeout state. Any ideas or suggestions regarding this issue? Thanks a lot. Best Regards, Enrico
  4. I have recently seen the Zybo Z7-20 Petalinux BSP Project. Is this BSP compatible with the Zybo original board? I have already tried to build a new image based on this bsp but it doesn't want to boot If the answer is no, Do you plan to post an updated bsp for Zybo and Zybo Z7-10? Thank you
  5. Ubuntu 14.04 worked on ZYBO Z7-20, but at first Ethernet did not work. The cause was that MDIO of Ethrnet 0 of Peripheral I / O Pins of PS of ZYBO Z7 was connected to EMIO. In the circuit diagram of ZYBO Z7, MDIO is connected to MIO52, MIO53. In the board file, should I connect MDIO of Ethrnet 0 of PS Peripheral I / O Pins to MIO? https://reference.digilentinc.com/_media/reference/programmable-logic/zybo-z7/zybo_z7_sch-public.pdf Currently, since we connected MDIO of Ethrnet 0 of Peripheral I / O Pins of PS of ZYBO Z7 to MIO, Ubuntu 14.04's Ethernet now works on ZYBO Z7-20. This situation was also the same for ZYBO. In previous ZYBO_zynq_def.xml, MIDO was connected to MIO.
  6. I have a ZYBO Board working fine with linux3.18. I have tested UART, I2C and Ethernet using linux3.18. I have searched web for a solution, but could not get anything useful. an someone help?

Hi, Actually i want to generate the device tree for the Zedboard.So on the way of doing this i found one prebuilt device tree for the Zedboard which is having following line :- chosen { bootargs = "console=ttyPS0,115200 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw earlyprintk rootfstype=ext2 rootwait devtmpfs.mount=0 consoleblank=0"; linux,stdout-path = "/amba@0/serial@e0001000"; } ; After following some tutorials i got some idead about .dts file contents but still i did not get the meaaning of each word in above lines. Also in some other .dts files from other sources folowing line is there:- chosen { bootargs = "console=ttyPS0,115200 root=/dev/ram rw earlyprintk"; linux,stdout-path = "/amba@0/serial@e0001000"; } ; So i got confused which one is correct and how to use this or modify this.   10. Hi, I am Newbie to Zybo. I am able to successfully boot Linux digilent kernel on Zybo using SD card. ( Kernel used: git clone –b master-next https://github.com/DigilentInc/Linux-Digilent-Dev.git”) Please let me know which rootfs has to be used along with the digilent kernel so that that kernel is in sync with the root fs. The "Embedded Linux Hands-on Tutorial for the ZYBO" (DOC: 594-008) references a "Getting Started with Embedded Linux - ZYBO" document as being available on the Digilent Embedded Linux page, but there is only one for the Zedboard. Does anyone know where it is? Somewhat related, the hands-on tutorial date on the web site is now Jan 27, but the PDF still says Dec 5. Any idea if it has changed?
