  1. I have an Analog Discovery 1. I have been using it successfully under Windows for some time. I would now like to use it under Linux - Ubuntu 14.04 LTs (64-bit) . I have installed digilent.waveforms_3.2.6_amd64.deb When I start the program I get three error messages 1) WaveForms > dlopen libmgr.so Reinstall Digilent Adept Runtime 2) WaveForms > No device detected 3) Device Manager > Adept NOK No device appears in the list of available devices in the Device Manager. Running dmesg I can see that the device is recognized by the operating system. Whe
  2. Hi, per my professor's requirement's, I bought The Analog Discovery (link here) http://store.digilentinc.com/analog-discovery-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-analyzer/ which I believe interfaces with the original Waveforms software linked here: http://store.digilentinc.com/waveforms-download-only/ . I have a Mac running OS X and am worried these will not work with my system. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. Sean
  3. Hello, you made great products with Analog Discovery and Electronics Explorer, especially since Waveforms 3 offers even more functionality! For Debugging especially the Logging-function is useful. In my case I'm sending SPI signals to a FPGA which controls a power electronics circuit. Some times there are glitches or faulty output values, so that I wanted to check the sent SPI signals. Therefore I want to log them and make a statistical analysis, since the errors are not periodical. I output a 50Hz sinus signal and send about 10 SPI commands per period. As sending the signals is much faster th
  4. A user asked this in a different section of the forum but since I'm not seeing a way to just move specific comments, I'm re-posting the question here.
  5. This question was asked on our youtube page: David Chiaverini: Is there a MAC version [of the Waveforms software]?
  6. Hey everyone I have the Analog Discovery Module and I can generate the timing signals easily using the GUI which I really like. However I need more signals and a standalone system, as well as an SPI communication capability. Would any of the boards available on your site be compatible with the Waveforms software and have more IO as well as SPI? Thanks
  7. Here you can find instructions on how to set up Linux and WaveForms 3 for Zybo: http://www.instructables.com/id/WaveForms-Analog-Discovery-on-Zybo/
  8. A custom asked the following: " is it possible to write a script to generate SPI data via the pattern generator? "
  9. Hi, Is it possible to write a MDIO (Clause 45 and 22) protocol decoder plugin for the Waveforms software (preferably under Linux but Windows would also be OK). I want to capture the data using Analog Discovery and decode it. Thanks, Methlal
  10. Juergen Sauermann published a classic oscilloscope like application for Linux, based on Qt and WaveForms SDK. This project can be found on the following location: https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtoscilloscope/
  11. I have an external event that operates at a frequency of 10-20 kHz that can be accessed through a TTL signal. This TTL signal has negative peaks that last about 2 us which could potentially be used as trigger events. I also have a custom waveform that I'd can load into the waveforms software via the custom tab and what I'd like to do is use the external TTL signals as a mechanism to march through each row of the custom waveform. When the number of external clock pulses exceeds the custom waveform length I'd like the row to simply reset (e.g. modulo operator). Now to top it off I'd like th
  12. Hello Probably i want order a Analog Discovery. Before that i have some requirements/questions about the possibilities of the equipment/ software. 1) Can i record my Inputs/ Outputs related/synced to each other? This for later calculations in GNU Octave… (fs_max = 200 kHz) 2) Is it possible to record inputs and outputs based on a trigger in one of the recorded signals. Let say i record 2 inputs and the trigger is one of the inputs?. Is this trigger adjustable? So that in a noisy environment the trigger not start. 3) I Work mostly with OSX or Ubuntu and I don't have experience with programmi
  13. I bought my Analog Discovery about a year ago, and installed Waveforms to drive it. I assume the software has been updated since then. How can i determine the version of my software, and how can i then update it? Thanks in advance
  14. What I feel would be a really neat addition to Waveforms would be an serial terminal, allowing you to use a pair of the digital signals as TX and RX. It wouldn't have to be anything too feature-rich - just something like the Arduino GUI's serial monitor would be perfect. I would find it quite useful for playing around with DIP microcontrollers, avoiding the hassle of finding my FTDI breakout board, a USB cable and freeing up a USB port. Also, some way to send I2C commands would be very cool, but I don't know what it would look like.... maybe somewhere where you can type in hex, and use a que
  15. Is it possible to use the Analog Discovery to analyze a CAN bus? CAN_L = 0v, CAN_H = 5v, for a 0. CAN_L = 2.5, CAN_H = 2.5 for 1. Typically operates at 1mbaud
  16. Here is a good question from customer. Can you anyone help on this? My question then is. Since you ship the SDK for Linux. Is there any possibility/roadmap for a Linux port of the WaveForms application, making the device useful also on Linux workstations?
  17. Hi all. I just installed Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 on my notebook (all my life I used Windows). I installed VirutalBox on my PC and Windows 8.1 x64 on it. The problem is that I installed the Waveforms on the virtual machine and when I tried to use it, my analog doesn't measure well. I compared the same measure with a PC running Windows from the HDD and the Analog Discovery works fine. I don't know what happened. If anyone has any suggestion I would really appreciate it. Besides, is there a version of WaveForms for Linux (Ubuntu)? Thank you for your time
  18. Hello I got an explorer board this week, great product, however I came across a problem today, or maybe its just me being unable to find it, but the waveform generator does not have a sawtooth preset, all I can see is a triangular waveform. Is there something i'm missing? Thank you
  19. When I use the oscilloscope to capture a waveform, I need to be able to measure some small features on the waveform. Since the features are peculiar to this waveform, none of the automatic pre-defined measurements are relevant - nor could they be. What I need is the simplest digital feature, one that was first added to analogue scopes about 30 years ago... I would like to be able to manually place two cursors on the screen, and for Waveforms to indicate the equivalent voltage and time of both cursors, plus the time and voltage differences. Ideally Waveforms would also draw light horizontal/v
  20. How do I create an eye-diagram with the Waveforms Scope?
  21. Hi, I have V2.7.5 and an Analog Discovery. 1/ The oscilloscope help mentions Repeated, Scan Screen & Scan Shift Run Modes (section 2.3.3). Where is that selected? I have > 0.1sec/div timebase selected. 2/ The Trigger panel picture in 2.3.4 doesn't look like mine. 3/ Why is my Trigger Type selection disabled? 4/ When is the next update due? Thanks.
