    Howdy

Hey everybody! Taught myself just enough Verilog to be dangerous from 2013-2015 or so. Wrote a bunch of (boring) articles for a now-defunct trade site (absorbed into EETimes) about the process. Some of that stuff might still be available if you're lucky enough to find it. Did most of my learning on Opal Kelly XEM3005 - which I gotta say is an *excellent* platform (get yourself a breakout board, tho). I've started doing some stuff with Digilent devices a couple years ago, but haven't had any real opportunity to dig in to the "new" Arty or Zynq-based boards. So sitting
  2. Hi all, My group and I are brand new to FPGAs, none of us have any expertise whatsoever. As such, we have a few questions about the capabilities of the PYNQ-Z1 board that some of you seasoned experts can help us out with. First: we will have a TTL (3.3 V) pulse sent to the board which is about ~10 ns long. Can the board detect such a pulse from something like a rising or falling edge? We hope to send this pulse via BNC connection - where could we input this on the board? Second: We also need to output a pulse via BNC connection. Where would this pulse be outputted from?
  3. Hi, I'm just getting into programming FPGAs and I've made my first program "blinky light" but I cant get my computer to either find the FPGA when connected or I'm missing a step when I set up Vivado. I've ran the Synthesis, Implementation, and generated the bitstream and everything completed without any errors. I just need to know how to do last part which is to put the code on the FPGA. Thanks! What I'm using/running: Ubuntu 18.04 (OS on my computer), Vidado WebPack, Arty A7 35t, and if it helps I programmed it in Verilog
  4. Dear Community. I've recently bought a Zybo Zynq board and i'm having some getting started problems. Im known with both C and VHDL programming before but i've never had such a multi-purpose FGPA, dualcore board before. I tried following some basic tutorials, like: https://reference.digilentinc.com/zybo:gsg http://www.zynqbook.com/ and several youtube led blinks. But I'm experiencing different problems with all of them. My board isnt listed in the Vivado 2015 > new project > boards list I can't find the right settings to get the leds to the GPIO Or when I find a "pre made tutorial led bl

    Starter FPGA?

Which FPGA board would you recommend for a first time user?
  6. I am looking to familiarize myself with the Basys™2 Spartan-3E FPGA Board and would like to know which text would be most suitable. I am not familiar with VHDL or Verilog. I am interested in the text, "Digital Design" - 2nd edition. Any recommendations to get me started? Thank you!
