  1. Thanks, some other questions 1. I already have the web pack Vivado 15.1 on my machine, Do I uninstall it to install the one with the license? 2. I also was told that if a license was installed on a machine and I need another machine that this can't be transferred. Since I have 2 licenses from 2 different purchases can I put the second license on the new machine? My way of thinking is I can put the Basys license (which has to be done before June) on this older computer I have now and if I had to buy a newer machine could install the license that came with Arty on that computer. Is this something i can do? thanks LDS
  2. Hi: Last June I bought a Basys 3 it came with a license that gave me full Vivado capabilities, now i bought Arty and new license is to be sent. Are these 2 licenses different? They are both XC7C35T I haven't installed either license yet. Thanks LDS

    Win 7 home

Thanks I guess i should clarified better. Vivado states it requires Windows 7 pro where i have windows 7 home.I was hoping being on the low end of the FPGA win 7 home will work

    Win 7 home

Hi The highest resource FPGA I will be using is the Artix-7 100T with Vivado. Can I use win 7 home for design, implantation, and programing of the Artix-7 100T? Thanks LDS.
  5. Hi how is the file (license) to lock the Vivado baysis3 sent? I got the confirmation i ordered it. The order file says it is the only email? Does this come from Xilinix? I can't find anywhere the website or the forum telling me how i am to obtain the code license or what ever? I have downloaded 15.1 but I don't know what to do next. My Basys 3 board arrives Monday. I would like to have the software ready to get started. Thanks Rex
  6. I think i got this handled thanks for your assistance Robert LDS
  7. So i will have a 14 WebPack Vivado for my Nexys 4 (downloaded already) and a 15 locked Vivado for my Basys 3 which I will need to download?
  8. hey thanks Robert does the locked version of Basys 3 downloaded from the web?
  9. Hi. I have downloaded Vivado Webpack for my NEXYS4 I don't plan to use any other FPGA but the XC7A100 and smaller first question is do i need to upgrade to 15.1? It was very difficult to get 14 working. I have downloaded Waveform for my analog discovery and will need to download ISE 14.7 for the CPLD's I plan to use in a CR2 board and now will be installing the locked Vivado version that I will get purchasing the Basys3. Do i need to do watch for anything except to make sure they are all in different directories as far as installing these programs on the same machine? Thanks LDS .
  10. Thanks NAE I plan to use it for industrial control. PMODS like the DAC and a ADC along with HB2 and couple custom PMODS I have designed on my own will be the main peripherals used with the Nexys3 or Basys3 boards. Even though the locked software would be used strictly on the Basys3 couldn't the Basys3 design be imported like a RTL file to the Webpack version and modified to adapt to the Nexys4 board? My thinking is design the project on a smaller scale with the Basys3 and then take that file to the Webpack version where at least a share of the circuitry has been proven already. I never have put power to the Nexys 4. board yet and maybe able to return it? I
  11. Hi I bought a Nexys 4 mainly due to the 8 digit and the amount of the resources the FPGA had in the Nexys 4 versus the Basys3. I did not read until later that a locked version of Vivado is with the Basys3. I am a novice at this technology. Does the locked version of Vivado that only works with Basys3 have the logic analyzer with it or the serial IO analyzer with it? What are the main differences between locked version and the downloaded webpack i have now? If it does have these tools in it, then these are tools that at least give me a better chance of success on a smaller version of my project, I need to reconsider my not purchasing the Basys in favor of purchasing the Nexys4. Thanks Rex
  12. Hi I have bought a NEXYS 4 cell memory version. I have downloaded Vivado webpack. I see Diligent offers some software for instrument tools, such as NI Multisim & NI Ultiboard (NI Circuit Design Suite) it says $40 but it says academic. Can non students purchase this software? Will any of the software listed on this page help me? I am wondering now if i should of bought the Baysys 3 as i found out that the Vivado a locked in version comes bundled with it. What does a locked version entail? I am very much a novice in this venture. I need any kind of tool that is a available for the process. Unfortunately, I can't get any funding till i can prove the concept. This means i can't afford buying high dollar software. I know Xilinix got rid of the Statecad and Simulator in ISE 11, in what version of ISE did they eliminate schematics or did they? The only reason I want ISE is Schematic capability and ISE 10 can't work on a Win 7 machine. I have an XP one also so I can use 10 there. Thanks Rex

Hey thanks Jamey I had the feeling and hoping that was the case, again thanks as it makes my design much easier Rex

I plan on using serial flash for storing the configuring data for the FPGA. I have purchased the NEXYS 4 with the cellular memory (as you had that in stock) The only memory I will be using is in the FPGA itself. I know the flash holds the configuring data for the FPGA during Power down. I plan to program the block data in the FPGA and write it into the flash at the same time. When the flash re configures during power up can the block ram data be uploaded as well? Thanks Rex
  15. Hi I am new here. My background is I used ISE 10 but mainly used the schematic capture and the FSM software for my designs. I used a little VHDL and Verilog from the library to form some blocks for my schematic projects. For the most part my designs have all centered on Schematics. I have some unique design blocks for full projects I did with the finite State machine software. I have in stock has a Nexys 2 board with a Spartan 3500E on it and I was planning to use for a demo model when I found out this board is being discontinued. I like the 7A100 you have on the Nexys 4. This will multiply my capabilities compared the old board I had. I also downloaded the Vivado series design tool and found it very powerful in some aspects to ISE. I lost my connection to someone that can write code and Tcl script. I need to get this demonstration model done ASAP so I have the following questions. I see you cannot migrate schematic files to Vivado. I don’t want to migrate complete projects just the blocks of circuits in them especially the ones I generated from the FSM software which is converted to VHDL and Verilog. Can I make custom IP’s from them and use them in Vivado? Are there files I can take from my old ISE project circuit blocks and can use in my IP catalog and Vivado? In the IP catalog I don’t see some circuits I need in my design.I don’t have time for a learning curve. Is the Vivado software a software that requires more knowledge and experience concerning writing code than I have (which is limited)? If I can handle the learning curve using the Vivado design tools in a descent amount of time, I want to use the Nexys 4 with 7A100 in it. If I can’t then I will have to use the Nexys 2 board that has. the Spartan 3500EWhat kind of prerequisites in learning do I need to perform a successful project in Vivado? Thanks Rex
