  1. Hi Digilent. On the latest beta on Ubuntu 20.04 I get a segfault in scope by opening Scope Channel Editor and then closing its window. Kernel reports the following exception sometimes. This is repeatable and seems to happen even after a reboot. [ 216.984083] traps: waveforms[4206] general protection fault ip:7f559a0d16f9 sp:7ffdd38ffc90 error:0 in libQt5Core.so.5.12.8[7f5599ece000+2e0000]
  2. Hi Forum. This would be an interesting product to me if the board came with a modular connector system such that you could plug-in assorted adapters for barrel plug, USB, proprietary, etc. Perhaps somebody makes a good breakout device for USB that brings out the power pins to make this possible ? I've been looking for something like this for years without success. What's the allowable amperage of this adapter ? Thanks, Sven
  3. Thanks for suggestion. Not a cable issue. I'm guessing either a BIOS issue or port issue although since it happens on both TB4 ports I'm guessing BIOS. Luckily once recognized devices including AD3 don't seem to have issues.
  4. Hi Forum. I would like to figure out why I have about a 50% chance of having this laptop recognize AD3 when I first connect provided USB cable to one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports. If not recognized I see the following: at which point I wait a few seconds and unplug and replug and deal with the same 50% chance again. Eventually AD3 is recognized and kernel ring buffer shows the following: I've had similar issues with other devices on this laptop ( showing the same "Maybe the USB cable is bad" error ) on this laptop and have zero suspicion this is an AD3 issue. But I mention here on the chance that somebody in forum might know of this problem ( e.g. Linux has not so great Thunderbolt 4 drivers or USB 2/3 support over Thunderbolt 4 is wonky...). This same configuration will also occasionally reveal an overcurrent dialog after sleeping with no supplies/waveforms enabled which is most likely related. Screenshot of that image below. Thank you.
  5. Thanks for replies and quick fix. I'm very impressed with timeliness of fixes and feature requests of Waveforms.
  6. Perhaps my configuration that needs to be reset ? or I don't understand the logic ? Thanks
  7. Hi Forum. I would like to control a programmable power supply using Waveforms providing a "Supplies" interface like that made available to me when I select DPS3340 in demo mode. This power supply has well documented MODBUS and SCPI protocol support over USB 2.0 port. Having programmed MODBUS and having looked at the SCPI manual I'm guessing these are quite vendor-specific syntax so really no way to generalize to make useful to others ? I see only one way to implement using SDK to create my own exe/lib using perhaps a SCPI library that exists to facilitate. But is there a way to integrate such an app into Waveforms ecosystem or will it have to be standalone ? My hunch is that all of this probably isn't worth it unless it integrates well with Waveforms and even then I'm not sure. Any insights or related projects appreciated. nurber
  8. I don't see "Type:" field anywhere including in dropdown, but I could be missing something.
  9. Hi Forum. I suspect if I had more experience I might be able to figure out how to do this with the four types of triggers offered in Waveforms, but I can't. I'm looking for dropout trigger best described by the following description: "Level Dropout trigger This trigger detects an edge followed by a specified time with no edges. This is useful for triggering on the end of a pulse train. This image shows the end of a pulse train in which edges normally occur every 2.5 µs. The dropout trigger has detected that no edges have occurred within 4 µs. The Dropout control specifies whether to trigger when the signal remains high, low, or in either state relative to the threshold." Thank you
  10. Hi Forum. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS has a scale setting in "Display Settings" and when set to 200% it seems that trigger "type" dropdown disappears ( see attached screenshot ). Setting scale to 100% allows for more of the settings of "control" toolbar to appear including "type". It seems that latest beta includes changes to configuration toolbar. Thank you
  11. Hi Forum. I think this adapter should include the same jumpers w/ handles as Audio Adapter+ as this would facilitate changing position with the BNC connector being so close to header. I also seems that the standoffs included with BNC adapter are too long given thickness of AD3 and lever the connector when sitting on a flush surface. I'm guessing AD2 was thicker, but then the correct standoffs should be included. Thank you
  12. Hi Forum. I understand that with a jumper I can set this on BNC adapter, but is there no way to configure AC coupling using included MTE harness ? I'd like to measure some ripple and think I would make more accurate readings using differential measurement (vs single-ended of BNC adapter), but cannot change from "DC coupling" regardless of what is connected to AD3. Yes, I can do math between two channels but I'm wondering about one channel. Thank you
  13. Hi Forum. Not that I'm a fan of filenames with line feeds (\n), but Waveforms 3.20.33 for Linux parses a filename containing a line feed such that a truncated name appears in "Recent:" area of Welcome tab. Filename itself appears as saved with embedded new line. Waveforms correctly loads such a file so I'm assuming it should parse it for the "Recent:" area.
  14. Didn't realize that scripts will populate much of the Wavegen config. Initially I tried creating the Wavegen configuration details before executing the script and did something that prevented it from working, but just tried again doing much less and it worked. Sorry for noise.
  15. Hi All. I wonder if relevant Workspace can be included in posts like this. I get the sense of what is happening here and can certainly copy and paste the script given the posted script text, but I'm having difficulty duplicating the Wavegen configuration and as a beginner feel like I can save a bunch of time and learn more if there was a workspace ? Thank you, Sven
