Zybo Z7 schematic design query

Hi, From Zybo Z7 schematics (sheet 4- HDMI Tx), TS3DV642 is used before HDMI Tx receptacle. That part number is switch mux. But here, 1:1 HDMI connection is used. My query is Do we need that switch mux between the FPGA and receptacle? Is it used for Redriver/ Retimer configuration, but it is mux only as per datasheet. Can we use any redriver instead it? what will be the complications if we connect the FPGA directly to the receptacle?
